Leppanen Anker Arquitectura

The Suriname proposal is a development and improvement of Health Services in Paramaribo, which is the largest city on the banks of the Suriname river and is home to half of the country’s population. The proposal intends to improve access to high quality, integrated primary care services and enhances the effectiveness of the health sector to address priority epidemiological challenges. The design has considered the open areas as an opportunity to enhance wellbeing, create pedestrian connection and improve the supply and quality of public space. 

It incorporates enough parking space for both staff and visitors, it also incorporates certain design elements such as protected bike racks to foster alternative transportation methods. The proposal has been developed under modern and functional aspects that have also allowed for the creation of an environment that provides equal accessibility and connection to all buildings for both visitors and staff as well as an open welcoming relation with the urban surroundings.  The external façade counts with vertical louvres that provide internal environmental comfort, provide privacy but maintain a view of the outside.
