The project consists of a renovation and addition of 900 square meters to an existing library located on the Einstein College campus (k-12) in Quito, Ecuador. The aim of the renovations and additions was to transform the existing building into a modern space that meets current needs.
The Library is located in the center of the campus and near the main entrance; It is one of the most visible buildings on the campus of the Alberto Einstein Experimental College. Leppanen Anker aimed to use the prominent location and create a node that could be opened to the campus community through interesting views and spatial experiences of the surrounding buildings.
This was achieved mainly through the rotation of new volumes and the location of transparent facades. This approach allowed us to create a radically new building that at the same time provides a functional space, with natural and exciting light for students to learn.
